I’m a transplanted Brit of a certain age. You know, that age when we face the prospect of waving off our offspring as they head off into the sunset in search of independence and a college degree. In my case, my son’s completing the circle. He’s leaving Greece, which I made my home back in 1989, and heading for my homeland. London, no less, home to a million cultures, a good few grimy reputations and some of the highest rents in Europe.
Will he survive? Will I have a nervous breakdown? Who knows?
This blog is my attempt to give him tips on surviving far from the comfort and convenience of home, and to convince myself that he will be just fine.
